I am always looking for creative ways to reach out to the young and young-at-heart on how to better prepare themselves for those uncertain times. So, when Plaid Klaus asked me to review his new comic book series 'Off Grid' ... at first I thought ..."Wellll, I'm not reeeally the comic book type." ... but after I read the first issue of 'Off Grid', I was absolutely blown away at the artwork and dialog  - and how the author pulls you into the action with his descriptive writing style.

Caveat: The cover does NOT give the rest of the book justice. The action drawn into the storyline keeps your eyes darting all over the page and really pulls you into the story.  You "feel" the words - if that makes sense??!    preview-cover- offgrid issue01

The story revolves around a civil war that breaks out after the nations grid system is shut down for three (3) weeks and the government mandates all civilians to report to the major city "habitation zones".  It explores the underground fight between the modern day high tech war drones, machines and super soldiers and a small group of ex-military and anonymous members who call themselves, “The Resistance.” (love that name!)  The novel also explores emerging technologies such as nano-bots and technology that is implantable into the human body. Gulp!

Now I will tell you up front there is some "colorful language" in the storyline ... not a lot, but then we are talking ex-military after all - and there is no mincing of words as they try to survive in this stressful life existence they now find themselves in.

But this is my thought - what a great way to introduct your older teens and/or guy friends and family to preparedness and to a life we could actually be faced with one day.  As for the "choice" words - I don't think they're anything most don't hear a ba-gillion times a day any how.

Just sayin'.
